Private School Expo - Fall 2025 Yes, I want to attend
Education from a Deeper Perspective was a good tagline, I thought, when I grew old enough to understand Waldorf's marketing scheme. They were trying to convince possible new parents that we look deeper into things than the public school system. It wasn't until a few years ago when I realized that Waldorf actually did. And it stuck.
If it wasn't for my Waldorf years, I don't think I would have such an awkward philosophy about things. Music, art, news, literature, movies...for my whole adult life I have had this alternative way of looking at things - for things. When digging for music, for example, I tend to look deeper than just what's on the local Top 40 radio station, or on any radio station. I'd rather dig a bit harder and see what else is out there. With my art, I would rather do something completely different than doing the same old flower vase sitting on a table or sunset in some European town. When searching for movies, I choose low budget artistic ones rather than the blockbusters. Books? Same. I read independent news blogs and search out for different voices taking another stance on that CNN story.
Most people would say I'm just a "deep dude". I don't think my deepness would be there if it wasn't for Waldorf.
Funny. I never knew they were doing it until I stood still for a moment a few years back and took notice. It's kind of like they secretly brainwashed me into looking for a deeper perspective into things in my daily life. I'm happy they did, though. Otherwise, I think I would've wound up being a superficial person, giving substance to the non-substantial. Or at least, lying to myself that there is substance in the non-substantial.
In a social media ruled world where shortened words and superficial banners and logos win our daily brain stream, I'm happy that Waldorf has been able to secretly brainwash their solders to have a deeper perspective than the norm. It's a change for the good and personally, I would rather have a conversation with them than a typical high schooler who likes Justin Bieber and wears the latest brand name.
Brainwash away, Waldorf. You're making us better and smarter human beings.
