(3.5) Student Experience

The student experience at Luther is wonderful. The staff is very supportive, and the teacher to student ratio is perfect for a very personal learning environment. One of Luther's best aspects is its community. However, many people I know are concerned with the grading at Luther. While I appreciate the that the heavy workload and strict criteria Luther adheres to aid in university preparation, the difficulty of the marking is unfair. While the U of R recognizes Luther students as having slightly lower grades, students applying for universities out of province, or internationally, are placed at a disadvantage. Personally, I have missed scholarship opportunities due to Luther's mark scheme. Again, it is not the content that I have a disagreement with, as it prepares people for university. It is simply the harder marking that causes difficulties

(5) School Leadership

The school has many wonderful leaders of various backgrounds which enhance Luther's diverse community

(4) Teaching

Teachers at Luther strive to push the boundaries of students, urging them to take leaps and bounds in their learning process. At times, the workload is very heavy - I often find myself having to skip extracurricular activities and still getting minimal sleep. However, I always know what teachers want from me, and that they want me to succeed.

(4) Academics

The academics requirements, while difficult, are achievable. The information is relevant, intersting, and useful later in life. Again, the workload is often intense, which can be both positive and negative

(5) Extracurriculars

Luther has a wide variety of diversity and clubs, that everyone can join. Participation is encouraged, and both students and teachers are heavily involved

(4.5) Students

The students here are a community - there is little bullying and few cliques. Luther is an inclusive, supportive community that accepts all regardless of background

(4) School Life

I would take them to the new Semple gymnasium, as well as the new classroom wing. While Luther's main building is rooted in tradition, it would be nice to see some upgraded learning facilities in the body of the school in order to create a better learning environment (ie heating system is often way to warm, cooling system doesn't work in all parts of the school in the summer)

(5) Community

Luther is a home to all, the community aspect is what makes Luther one of the best highschools in the country

(4.5) School Location

(5) Admissions

The admission process prepared to apply for university and was not too hectic. I found it useful.
