2016 Bright Run
The Bright Run was held at the Dundas Conservation Area to raise money for breast cancer research. A GAA family participated together with others to raise $313,899! Zoe Cardoso has done quite a bit of fundraising through lemonade stands and selling crafts to the neighbours! Zoe gave medals out to all the participants as they crossed the finish line!
Poetry Workshop September 30
On Friday September 30th, Grade 6,7 and 8 students worked collaboratively with Tanya Neumeyer during a poetry workshop that explored various forms, devices, styles and presentations of poetry. Students had their own "Poetry Slams," acted as poetry judges, engaged in poetry writing and self reflection as they worked together to create shared stories, individual experiences, and expressions of hopes and dreams. Students participated in Tanya's presentation of slam poetry and experienced shared poetry writing exercises to explore their creativity and identities.
African Lion Safari: September 30th
On Friday September 30th, the grade 2-5 classes travelled together to visit the African Lion Safari. With curriculum connections to Science, Language and Social Studies, students explored a variety of animal habitats and learned about the species of animals throughout the park. Students observed to over 1,000 exotic birds and animals from around the world including majestic lions, graceful giraffe, and a crash of rhino! Students enjoyed the sights, sounds and experiences from a real life perspective!
