MESSAGE FROM THE LEADERSHIP

We asked Rosalind Gilchrist, Principal at Banbury Crossroads Academy for their message.

They shared an overview of the vision, values, and guiding principles that shape both their leadership and the student experience at Banbury Crossroads Academy.

Rosalind Gilchrist, Principal

I am beyond excited to introduce Banbury Academy to support students with diverse learning needs. Here at Banbury, we believe all students deserve to be able to learn in a way that best suits their needs. Banbury School supports students who prefer to work in a self-directed environment while Banbury Academy supports students who prefer direct teaching to introduce concepts and some extra support with executive functioning, self-regulation, and emotional needs. With the use of IPPs to guide supports and accommodations, our dedicated and caring teachers will work with students to support them when and how they need. Our small class sizes of 6:1 foster excellent relationship building, leading to an environment where students feel safe to try, and even to fail.

We are self-paced, meaning if a student is adept at a certain topic or subject, we won’t hold them back to work at the same pace as everyone else, however, our teachers are here to explain concepts and ideas when needed. We do implement deadlines to assist students in their organisation and will support and work with students to ensure they meet these deadlines and don’t fall behind. This means students should be continually progressing, without leaving knowledge gaps.

We are excited to support all our students to reach their potential and be part of their journey of success and enjoyment in school.

I am honoured to be the principal of this Academy, helping students thrive, alongside our passionate and caring teachers. We look forward to welcoming your child to a new and positive learning experience.

Rosalind Gilchrist
