What Banbury Crossroads says about their university placement record and services:

  • Students who attend university after attending Banbury Crossroads are extremely successful in that post-secondary life. We have had graduates attend universities across Canada, the United States, Australia, and the UK. By the time they graduate, they have learned how to take responsibility for their own learning. They have no trouble with the independent learning and organization that is required at university. They join student councils and other facets of university life, such as Safewalk, leadership courses, orientation week activity coordination, and so on. They find their own tutors, create study groups, organize the timing of their work, and most importantly, visit with their professors and discuss the topics in their courses. They have positive expectations for their relationships with adults, and create networks of professional connections. They have entered faculties such as Sociology, Fine Arts, Medicine, Commerce, Psychology, Accounting, Business, Law, Urban Planning, Environmental Design, English, Naval Architecture, Airplane Mechanics, and Mechanical Engineering. Many receive graduate degrees, including Master's degrees and PhDs.

Qualitative insights

These insights are based on conversations with parents, alumni, and school leadership. Handpicked and curated by our editor, they offer a close look at how the school is experienced and perceived by those who know it best.

What was super helpful to me, in transitioning to university, was having the tools to learn. Support is available at Banbury, but the work is up to you to do it. You’re not being held on task by somebody else. Sometimes, I could just go through three units in two weeks, and that wasn't a problem, because I wasn't being held back at anyone else's pace. And then, if I needed time to slow down, and really grasp the concept, I had that time available to me. It was flexible. That was incredibly useful, both for just learning subjects in general, but also just in terms of developing good work practices and being able to try and keep being accountable to yourself, instead of a higher authority.
