(5) Student Experience

Ontario Virtual School was an incredibly well-operated experience. My teacher responded to my emails very quickly, and all my assignments were marked in less than one day. Even my exams were marked in less than 12 hours! My favourite part about OVS is how easy it is to sign in and access my coursework. The website is very organized, and it is easy to see which lessons and assignments I still need to complete. Furthermore, I love how it tells you how far into the course you are and how many days are left to complete the course. This really kept me motivated throughout my time taking Grade 12 French, and it allowed me to stay on track with my goals. I took this OVS course instead of doing it at my day school because my timetable did not allow for me to have this course at the right period, and it was such a great decision. Now I am up a grade 12 credit before actually entering Grade 12, thanks to OVS! Lastly, the practice tests and exam were so helpful, and they were so similar to what the actual exam is like. I have nothing bad to say about my time with OVS, and will definitely be referring many of my friends to them.

(5) School Leadership

Since OVS is virtual, I did not interact with many administrators; however, my teacher, Mdme Tayler, was very polite and supportive. She always gave me the best feedback on my assignments, and during my oral exam, she encouraged me to try and figure out the words on my own while also helping me if I asked for it. She is such a kind and sweet teacher, and I am grateful for all her help throughout these past few months.

(5) Teaching

My teacher never asked too much of me. The instructions for each lesson, forum, and assignment were always clear and concise, and I knew that help was always available if I needed it. I never felt pressured to do work I was not comfortable with, and I was always able to email my teacher if needed. Success in this course for me was being able to enhance my French experience, and also learning about the history of French-speaking countries. I knew from day one of the course that my teacher and all OVS admins had my back and were rooting for me to be successful. Even after the exam, the emails I have received from everyone at OVS have been nothing but warm-hearted and positive.

(5) Academics

The work at OVS is just the right amount of challenging, but not too difficult. For each lesson, there are 1-2 mini quizzes that I can take to test my knowledge on that topic, and those were tricky but not impossible. For every unit (I had 5), there was one forum and one assignment I had to complete. The forums were very straightforward, and I was able to collaborate with other OVS members by answering their discussion posts and responding to them. The assignments were great, and the instructions made it easy to follow and figure out what I was supposed to do. Again, they were hard, but in a good way. I will be able to apply my extended French knowledge from OVS throughout the rest of my life.

(5) School Life

N/A (Virtual school). However, the OVS website is very easy to navigate. I signed up and paid for the course, and then right away, I was emailed my login information and code to use for the time being. Every time I logged into my course, I even received 10 points! This was a good way to keep me motivated throughout the past semester. I first watched the video on the introduction to OVS, and had to complete a few quick lessons on that. Then, I was able to start my actual course lessons. There is a resources button available at all times on the website, where I could go to see anything I needed for the course. I cannot get over how amazingly organized everything was, and how easy it was for me to see my marked assignments and feedback at all times.

(5) Admissions

N/A (Virtual School) Once again, this does not apply to OVS because there was no admission process. To log in to the course, I had to search for the one I wanted, which was very easy, add it to my cart, pay for it, and then begin! I will definitely be recommending OVS to my friends and family in the future, because it was so fun and great! I have nothing bad to say about my time taking French through OVS.
