(5) Student Experience
I had a really great experience with Ontario Virtual School. I loved how flexible it was and how I could work at my own pace. It was super helpful for managing my time, especially with other responsibilities and schoolwork. The best part of the course was how clear and organized everything was. The lessons were easy to follow, and the practice tests and online textbooks really helped me study. My teacher, Ms. Garcha, was amazing! She always responded to my questions quickly and marked my work on time. She was very supportive and made the course feel less stressful. I used the practice tests and exams, which helped a lot in preparing for the final. The school office and student success team were also very helpful whenever I had questions or needed support. And yes, my marks were sent to OUAC for university admissions with no problems. Overall, I really enjoyed OVS and would definitely recommend it to other students.
(5) School Leadership
Yes, I respect the school leaders, including the headmaster, guidance counsellors, and teachers. Whenever I needed help, I could email or call them, and I’d get a response very fast. They were always kind and willing to support me with anything I needed. One thing I think could make the experience even better is having an AI system for answering common questions during breaks or long weekends, since the office isn’t open during that time. It would be helpful for students who might need quick answers when staff aren’t available.
(5) Teaching
I think the teachers gave the perfect amount of work to help me prepare for tests and the final exam. It never felt like too much or too little. It was just right to make sure I understood the lessons and stayed on track. The course was well-paced, and I always knew what the teachers expected of me because the instructions and rubrics were clear. When teachers talked about success, I think they meant more than just getting good grades. They wanted us to actually understand the material, be confident in our learning, and develop good study habits that we can use in the future. Success at OVS meant staying consistent, putting in the effort, and being proud of what I accomplished by the end of the course. I really felt like they cared about helping students grow and reach their goals.
(5) Academics
The work at Ontario Virtual School was a little more than what we learned in my day school, but I think that was actually a good thing. It pushed me to go deeper into the material and really understand the concepts instead of just memorizing them. At first, it felt like a bit of a challenge, but over time, I realized how much it helped me improve my learning and study skills. I definitely think what I learned will be useful to me later in life, especially in university. The extra work and clear lessons prepared me for a higher level of learning and taught me how to manage my time better. It also gave me more confidence in working independently, which is something I’ll need as I continue my education and career.
(5) School Life
Since Ontario Virtual School is online, I wouldn’t be giving a tour of a building, but I would still be excited to show people around the platform. First, I’d take them to the lessons section because that’s where all the learning starts. The lessons are organized, easy to follow, and have videos, notes, and practice questions that really help. Then, I’d show them the dropbox, where students submit all their assignments and tests. It’s simple to use and keeps everything in one place. I’d also show them the grade book, where you can see your marks and all the feedback from your teacher. One fun part I’d definitely point out is the leaderboard, but it’s cool to see other students’ progress, and it can be motivating too!
(5) Admissions
The admissions process for Ontario Virtual School was super simple and fast. All I had to do was give my information, choose my course, and make the payment. It barely took any time at all, and I was able to get started right away. There were clear instructions, and everything was easy to understand. I didn’t find it stressful at all—in fact, it was probably one of the easiest school-related processes I’ve ever done. If someone is planning to apply, I’d tell them not to worry because it’s really straightforward. One thing I know now that I didn’t at the time is how quickly you can start your course after registering, which is great if you’re on a deadline or just excited to begin learning.
