(5) Student Experience
School was great! I loved the environment where I was able to learn at my own pace. The flexibility allowed me to balance school with other responsibilities in my life, which made a big difference in reducing stress. One thing I wish I had known before starting was how important it is to stay organized and set your own deadlines—since there's so much freedom, it's easy to fall behind if you're not careful. If I could change one thing, I would want more interaction with other students, maybe through optional virtual clubs or group discussions. Still, I loved being able to move through the content when I was ready and not feel rushed or held back. Overall, it was a positive and independent learning experience.
(5) School Leadership
The school leaders at Ontario Virtual School are respectful, organized, and helpful. I felt like the guidance counsellors were easy to reach and always provided clear answers to any questions I had. The teachers also responded to emails in a reasonable time and were fair with grading. One thing I wish the school leadership did more of was offer check-ins or motivational messages throughout the course, just to make students feel more connected. But overall, the support system is strong, and leadership is focused on helping students succeed.
(5) Teaching
The teaching at Ontario Virtual School was clear and consistent. The expectations were outlined well in the course modules, and I never felt confused about what was required. Most of the teachers provided good feedback on assignments, and I felt supported even though I was learning independently. I don’t think the teachers asked too much or too little—it was just right for an online format. When teachers talked about success, it felt like they genuinely wanted students to learn the material and apply it in real life. I think their version of success isn’t just about grades, but also about independence and responsibility. I appreciated that balance, and it helped me grow both academically and personally. The lessons are all very easy to follow.
(5) Academics
The academic work at Ontario Virtual School felt just right. Some courses were more challenging than others, but all were manageable with the right time and effort. I found the content useful and relevant, especially because it focused not only on memorization but also on application and critical thinking. For example, in English, we analyzed texts in a way that improved my writing and comprehension skills. The math and science lessons helped build a strong foundation for future studies. I also appreciated that I could go back and review lessons anytime I needed to. I believe the skills I learned—especially time management and self-discipline—will be incredibly valuable in university and beyond. In essence, the workload was just enough for me to complete the course
(5) School Life
If I were to give a tour of Ontario Virtual School, I’d start by showing visitors how the learning platform works. That’s where everything begins—lessons, assignments, tests, and communication with teachers. It’s organized and easy to navigate once you get used to it. Since there’s no physical building, school life is more about how you manage your time and structure your day. I’d also highlight the support tools like the help desk and student services. While there aren’t school events or clubs in the traditional sense, the flexibility of virtual school lets students pursue outside interests. That freedom is what makes the experience unique—it’s school on your terms. I love how there is tutoring and guidance where you can make your appointments during the time you want
(5) Admissions
The admissions process at Ontario Virtual School was simple and smooth. I just had to fill out the application form and provide the necessary documents, and I was able to start my course shortly after. It wasn’t stressful at all. My advice to future applicants would be to double-check your course choices and make sure they align with your academic goals. I wish I had known how quickly everything could be set up—it really was faster and easier than I expected.
