(5) Student Experience
What I love most about OVS (Ontario Virtual School) is the freedom and flexibility that it affords. I can easily go at my own pace, doing units fairly quickly, while still retaining the content required to be successful on unit tests, and deepening my understanding of topics as a whole. The structure is fairly straightforward: watch the lessons, complete the work, and complete the accompanying unit test. I found it to be a rather seamless experience. One thing I wish I knew is how much self-discipline it takes, but luckily, they so check up on you if you haven't touched any of the work in a while. It taught me valuable accountability, and overall, the whole experience was genuinely enjoyable, and I would definitely recommend it to other students.
(5) School Leadership
What I appreciate about the leadership at Ontario Virtual School is how smooth and student-centred everything feels. There’s a clear sense of structure behind the scenes, but it never feels rigid or overwhelming. The way the school is run allows students to really take ownership of their education, while still knowing there’s a support system in place if needed. Everything from the way deadlines are managed to how communication with teachers is handled feels intentional and well thought out.
(5) Teaching
The teaching at Ontario Virtual School is clear, efficient, and easy to follow. The lessons are broken down into manageable parts, which makes learning feel less overwhelming and more structured. I found that the explanations were straightforward, and the examples provided helped reinforce key concepts really well. The teachers were also very effective when it came to setting clear expectations and what they wanted from students. They offered quick guidance and support in my learning, supplementing me heavily. There’s a nice balance between independence and support, and I always felt like the teachers genuinely wanted me to succeed. It’s obvious that the teachers know how to teach in an online environment, which is a skill in itself. Overall, a great selection of teachers who are all very competent and cohesive in their subjects.
(5) Academics
The academics at Ontario Virtual School feel well-balanced. Not too easy, but not overwhelmingly difficult either. I’d say the work is just right, as long as you stay on top of it and actually engage with the lessons. The content is clearly explained, and the assignments help reinforce what you’ve learned without feeling repetitive. There’s enough challenge to keep you focused, but the flexibility of the platform means you can take your time with tougher topics when needed. I do think a lot of what I’m learning will be useful later in life, especially the study habits, time management, and self-discipline that come with working independently. The course material itself also ties into real-world skills, like writing clearly or understanding key concepts, so it doesn’t just feel like memorizing facts for a test.

(5) Admissions
The admissions process at Ontario Virtual School was honestly really simple and stress-free. I remember being surprised at how fast everything moved. I just filled out the online application, submitted the necessary documents, and I was good to go not long after. There weren’t any confusing steps or long wait times, which made the whole experience feel smooth and straightforward. If someone’s thinking about applying, I’d tell them not to overthink it, just make sure you have your documents ready (like your report card or transcript), and you’ll be set. One thing I didn’t fully realize at the time was how quickly you could actually start the course after being accepted; it’s almost instant.
