“The mission of the school, which is building fine young men one boy at a time, resonates strongly with me,” Young says. “There are a million ways to be a good student, a good person, and a school's opportunity is to support every student on their individual path.”

Young advocates for a learning environment that encourages exploration, risk-taking, and a deep sense of belonging. “Our task is to create an environment where we encourage them to take those risks knowing it's going to be okay,” he explains. “It's far more fulfilling for us to send them off to their next adventure, knowing they're going somewhere they want to go. They're just a really lovely aspect of what we do. We really work hard to find places where every boy feels his learning resonates with him.”

Looking ahead, Young is dedicated to building on St. George’s strong traditions while embracing new opportunities to enhance student experiences. “My desire is that people will leave with a sense of being part of something that matters,” he says. “And my hope is that we'll be able to see through the impacts our graduates have made, that we got some important work correct. Society needs positive young people.”

With David Young’s leadership, St. George’s School continues to thrive as a place where young boys are encouraged to think independently, act with confidence and empathy, and pursue excellence in all they do, in the classroom and beyond.
