This course is designed to strengthen students' abilities in debating, public speaking, argumentation, and critical thinking. Students will further develop essential skills for effective public speaking and debate, such as topic brainstorming, structuring speeches, mastering delivery techniques, constructing arguments and rebuttals, and engaging an audience. Topics covered include impromptu speaking, persuasive speaking, and parliamentary debate (both prepared and impromptu formats). Students will complete several take-home assignments, including a persuasive speech and a prepared parliamentary debate. This course will be valuable for students looking to build confidence in classroom speaking or to enhance their overall public speaking skills.
A 13% HST Tax is applicable to non-credit academic programs.
