This course is designed to develop critical thinking and communication skills, encouraging students to think critically about the messages and information around us. Students will examine the role and influence of media in society through all mediums, and the evolution of media from past to present. Students will explore these topics using real life case studies, group activities, discussion and debate. Students will also develop self-awareness and understanding of the power of social media, and how our interactions on social media impact both ourselves, and others. This course will delve into the world of social media and media influencers and what messages are being portrayed. This course will ask students to reflect on their personal consumption and usage of social media, provide tools to find balance, and help students understand how to use these powerful tools to connect and lead, while being true and responsible to themselves.
A 13% HST Tax is applicable to non-credit academic programs.
