The Our Kids review of Claireville Conservation Area

    our take

Learning in nature can be wondrous and awe-inspiring. At Claireville Conservation Area, kids can discover all that there is to offer in their wetlands, valleys, rivers, and more. They’ve got an amazing education centre, originally built by the Toronto District School Board, which is a homebase for all of the goings-on at the conversation area. The place is ripe for much hands-on exploration and immersive activities. Touching, seeing, hearing, smelling, and maybe even tasting are all ways to learn about the natural world here. There’s lots of room to play and grow at Claireville, so many camps and school groups often exist at the same time. Kids learn about the environment, the living beings in it, and how to protect both. It isn’t all educational though, kids have a lot of fun here. The staff are held to very high standards with rigorous training and they absolutely love kids. With fun names like Acorn, kids don’t forget their counselors.

    Director's Message

    Hello!

I'm proud to be part of the education team at Claireville Conservation Area. Our camps are all about the experience of being immersed in nature - losing track of time while you turn over rocks looking for salamanders, singing songs around a campfire, building forts in the forest, making art with nature - I hope your child will join us at Claireville for a summer of incredible memories and essential life experiences.

Our camps are led by dedicated and experienced outdoor education specialists and camp counsellors, who are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for your child. All staff have training in child development, anti-bullying, first aid, and outdoor recreation safety. Claireville Summer Nature Day Camps are all about discovery, nature-connection and developing self-confidence.

Whether your child is a first-time camper or a seasoned outdoor explorer, Claireville's Summer Day Camps will make this summer special.

    Yours in the Outdoors,

Adrian O'Driscoll, Senior Manager, Community Outreach and Education
