Boost your communication skills and gain confidence with our Public Speaking and Debate Day! This camp is designed to help teens develop their public speaking abilities and master the art of debate through engaging activities and practical experience. Throughout the day, campers will dive into various aspects of public speaking and debate. They’ll start with workshops on effective communication techniques, including voice modulation, body language, and persuasive speech writing.
Participants will learn how to craft and deliver compelling speeches on a range of topics. Teens will engage in practice debates, where they’ll learn the structure of formal debate and develop skills in argumentation, rebuttal, and critical thinking. They’ll be assigned topics, research their positions, and practice presenting their arguments and counterarguments. In addition to debate practice, campers will participate in public speaking exercises, such as delivering impromptu speeches and practicing storytelling.
They’ll receive constructive feedback from peers and instructors, helping them refine their delivery and build confidence. The day will also include group discussions and role-playing scenarios to enhance their ability to think on their feet and articulate their thoughts clearly and effectively. Public Speaking and Debate Day provides a supportive environment for teens to improve their communication skills, gain confidence, and prepare for future speaking and debating opportunities. It’s a day full of learning, practice, and empowerment!
