This art and crafts camp will involve children in learning about both contemporary and traditional art forms of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit. Students will explore varied media, along with investigations of themes found in art done by Indigenous artists such as: family, plant and animal life, storytelling and Orange Shirt Day. We will do painting, printmaking, beading and crafts with deer hide and porcupine quills. Children of all ethnicities will then be encouraged to create art and craft designs from their own sense of self within their families, communities, ethnicities and traditional lands. There will be a field trip to the National Gallery of Canada.
