Branksome Hall’s co-ed Slingshot Innovation Academy is Canada’s first program to partner with DMZ, a global tech incubator, and SureStart, AI experts connected to MIT and Carnegie Mellon. Designed for young innovators aged 13–16, it uniquely combines hands-on AI and tech exploration with expert mentorship, real-world skill development, and leadership training. Our programs foster entrepreneurial thinking, empowering participants to embrace creativity, take smart risks, and turn challenges into opportunities. Whether building technology applications or honing collaboration and pitching skills, Slingshot prepares changemakers to shape the future with confidence.

Dear Innovators and Changemakers,
I am thrilled to invite you to Branksome Hall’s Slingshot Innovation Academy, where we are igniting bold thinking and empowering the next generation of leaders and innovators. This summer, we are offering exclusive, first-of-its-kind programs for young minds aged 13–16, designed to build confidence, creativity, and the skills needed to shape the future.
In partnership with global leaders like the DMZ, one of the world’s top tech business incubators, and AI experts from SureStart, with connections to MIT and Carnegie Mellon (a first in Canada!), our programs provide a unique opportunity to explore entrepreneurship, leadership, and cutting-edge AI technologies.
Our 2025 Summer Programs include:
- Venture Lab: Entrepreneurship & Leadership (in collaboration with DMZ): Develop resilience, adaptability, and leadership skills while working on real-world challenges with hands-on mentorship.
- Artificial Intelligence Lab (in collaboration with SureStart): Explore the exciting world of AI, learn about generative AI, and tackle real-world problems through creative applications.Both programs are designed to inspire young people to think differently, take risks, and lead with purpose. Whether you’re passionate about launching a business, creating solutions for global challenges, or simply exploring new ideas, Slingshot Academy is the perfect place to start.

The Venture Lab, co-created by DMZ and Branksome, combines academic excellence with real-world innovation to foster a dynamic learning environment. DMZ’s post-graduate instructors from tech and entrepreneurial fields bring fresh perspectives and hands-on expertise, enriching the program’s collaborative approach.
The Artificial Intelligence Lab, led by SureStart, offers a cutting-edge learning experience with a 1:6 student-to-mentor ratio, guided by expert instructors from Branksome Hall. Participants benefit from personalized guidance through tech mentors and instructors carefully selected for their specialized expertise. Seasoned industry professionals serve as facilitators, offering deep insights into emerging trends and best practices.
