Adventures in Writing with AI

Join us for a dynamic 5-day camp where students will explore the power of AI in writing! Will AI do all the work for you - no, but you will learn how to harness the power of AI as an assistant for your many writing projects. The goal is to become an even better thinker yourself and in this way, ask for more sophisticated assistance from AI. This camp is for both those students who explore fiction/non-fiction writing and those who want to take their writing to the next level!

When and Where?

Monday July 7 - Friday July 11, 2025.

9:00am - 12:00noon.

Location: The Vancouver Independent School for Science and Technology (VISST): 1490 West Broadway, Vancouver.

Who?

This camp is for students going into grades 5-7.

What will you learn?

You will learn how to use AI tools to brainstorm ideas, organize your thoughts, and enhance your writing skills. Through interactive lessons and hands-on activities, you will discover how AI can assist with everything from providing mentor texts for unfamiliar genres, creating stronger research skills and helping to evaluate, organize and structure the content of your writing. By the end of the camp, you will have explored ways to support your own thinking and writing as well as how to incorporate AI into creative and academic projects. Whether you're a budding writer or just curious about the future of technology in writing, this camp will introduce you to ways to develop stronger writing skills in a fun and collaborative environment.

If you want to borrow a laptop from us, we have a VERY limited number available. Please email us to request one.

We recommend that parents create a free ChatGPT account in advance for the students to use, although this is not mandatory.

Students should bring their own laptop.
