Equestrian Schools

Equestrianism, the art of riding and handling a horse is a feature of many private schools with excellent equestrian facilities for students. Equestrian is a fun and thrilling sport that needs practice. In private schools, equestrian classes take place in the Physical Education time allocation or after regular school hours. Equestrian schools of this type offer lessons for in-barn work and practical riding. Equestrian schools can be coed, day, or boarding schools and experienced trainers are available for equestrian classes. Students can compete in various equestrian disciplines and have access to horse-related knowledge and competencies. Some schools have private camps that provide professional instruction for beginner through advanced riders, both kids and adults. Read more

Some of the equestrian programs in schools include:

Career emphasis areas include training, teaching, massage therapy, horse health, barn management, farrier and forging. Equestrian schools feature scenic woods trails, barns and an arena. Advanced riders may have a cross country course. Senior campers may also work on dressage and jumping. Dressage is a test of overall training and obedience of a horse. Girls who are passionate about riding can also join equestrian classes. Studies show that working with horses enables students to develop poise, assertiveness and confidence. Riding has become increasingly popular as recreation in many parts of the world, particularly in metropolitan and suburban areas. Eventing, show jumping, endurance, polo, western, horse ball and vaulting are some other exciting sports associated with horses.

Students at Equestrian schools work to improve their own skill base and theoretical understanding of horses. A good understanding of horses helps to develop this hobby and activity in a better way. Students who love the outdoors and horses can develop equestrianism into a fine leisure pursuit that can give several benefits and rewards.
