Qualitative insights

These insights are based on conversations with parents, alumni, and school leadership. Handpicked and curated by our editor, they offer a close look at how the school is experienced and perceived by those who know it best.

The atmosphere is welcoming and familial.

Insights from parents and students reflect that Crescent fosters a close-knit and welcoming environment, akin to a family, providing a reassuring and nurturing space for all.

We did the tour, and we were impressed by what Crescent School had, and we were blown away.  We walked through the Manor doors and it was this warmth and like you were at home. We got this nice feeling inside. I remember hearing one of the teachers at the open house, and I was in awe. I thought ‘oh, my God. If my son comes here, he'll be loved. He'll be taken care of,’ because as a mom, you worry about that stuff, right?
What makes Crescent special is it’s like family. A big value in my own family is the feeling of community, and having that extra layer of love around us. And I really felt that at Crescent when we were choosing a school. I remember going for my interview, when I was 7 or 8 years old, and I remember just thinking, ‘Yeah, this is the place for me’. It just felt like family.
We love talking to the new parents coming in to see the school and answer any questions that they have. The moms, the way they talk about Crescent School and their faces light up, it's something else. I don't know what it is, but we love the school.

The admission process is supportive.

Observations from families moving from out of province and participating in open houses highlight Crescent's flexible and accommodating admission process, making transitions smooth and decisions easier.

The process for us in choosing Crescent for our three boys was really terrific. Our family was moving from out of province. Right from the very start, the team at Crescent was absolutely phenomenal at helping us understand the process, understand what Crescent stood for, both in terms of its culture and values, the academic program, and the extracurricular activities. They made the process really easy for us. They were very helpful and flexible in how we could go about the application process.
We started going to open houses, we started talking to parents that were in the school. We saw how Crescent shined, really shined in so many ways. Our question was, should we keep them in the school that they were in until that school was Grade 8, or should we pull them out earlier and move them into Crescent? It became an easy decision. The physical environment at Crescent was so pleasant. And then also the opportunities that Crescent gives them for education. We didn't know at this age if they'd want sports, art, science. Crescent literally gives boys all those opportunities on a top-notch scale. We have not regretted it one bit whatsoever.
Hands down, Crescent, when compared to other schools, made the out-of-province application process easy. They answered all of our questions, which were sometimes probably silly and small details, but it really made the difference in helping us feel comfortable with our decision.
