(4) Student Experience

Prestige School is a school with an actual foundation in education. Teachers are highly qualified, students are willing to learn, and therefore, you are surrounded by people with the same goals in mind as you. Class sizes are small, which adds to a more personalized experience, and you get more attention from the teacher; at the same time, that’s a negative because there aren’t as many people as in regular schools. Usually, you are in a class of 15 students, most of whom you’ve known for a while already. Nonetheless, that can play to your advantage if you truly want to focus on your work and obtain high grades for higher education. The programs and clubs offered are a lot relative to the amount of students.

(4.5) School Leadership

The teachers are one of the best parts of Prestige School. Students and all the parents can agree that they truly care about you and want what’s best for you. They work hard to give you presentations, projects, and lectures and work as hard to provide feedback on answers to your questions and so on. The guidance counsellor/vice principal is one example of someone who is involved with all of the students, especially those trying to get into university.

(4) Teaching

In elementary school, my experience was that teachers expected more of you during those years than in high school. Just like in any other school, the basic requirements for homework completion, class participation and behaviour, good test grades and an overall good contribution are expected; however, during elementary school, that is taught very early and as soon as you get into the school. Therefore, when you get older, all of the habits built are just a norm to you, and there are no new surprises for you in later grades. When teachers talk about success for example, they refer to you to not only remember everything you have learned theoretically but also be able to apply it in whatever field you are looking to pursue your career in.

(4.5) Academics

The elementary school program is a year advanced compared to other schools. When I joined this school in the third grade, I had to adjust to this curriculum in the first few months. You can tell everyone in the younger years has a head start in terms of knowledge than any child their age. Later on, you get used to the amount of work and its relative difficulty, and that transitions into high school where, just like in any school, there is a significant amount of work and studying needed for good results. The knowledge gained from this school is the foundational base for the university as this school covers a lot of the first-year material in grades 11 and 12. The habits learned from doing all of the work are definitely of good use for later in my career.

(3.5) Extracurriculars

There are a variety of clubs and extracurriculars offered relative to the number of students at our school. For example, I was a part of sports clubs the student council, the DECA club, financial literacy and so on. For younger children, there are clubs that are best for their interests, like art, chess, games, sports, and so on. I wish there were more students so there could be more incentives for more clubs.

(4) Students

The students are all goal-oriented. Many of them know exactly what they want to do later in life at a relatively young age. Elementary students are very curious to learn; they are open-minded and overall well-raised. The high school students are hard-working and determined to do well in school, as is seen through all of them pursuing higher education with a high average. It feels more like a town; even though it is located in Toronto, it is in a suburban neighbourhood, and there is a more town-like feeling since it is beside a few parks close by. Nonetheless, there are large intersections just a few minute's drive away if you want a city-like feeling.

(4.5) School Life

If I had that choice, I would take them to all of the elementary school grades, especially those in the really young years, for people to see how they behave and interact compared to students in other schools. You can tell the difference in their demeanour, behaviour and the education that they have received. They are all respectful and really mature for their ages. Though I would not say that anything particular stands out about the actual physical campus at the school the real quality is in the students themselves. At least, that is what caught my parent's eye and one of the reasons why I joined this school in the first place. Any visitor could notice that as soon as they come in.

(4) Community

I’ve been at this school for almost ten years, and you can definitely sense a feeling of community when you are younger, even up until high school. I grew up with kids from elementary school, and we’ve been in the same grade together all the way up to our graduating year. Since the class sizes are small, you see them more often and get to know them better. Everyone feels included if they want to be, of course, that is all up to your own choice. If you are a quiet person, you can still feel appreciated without any issues of having to go out of your way to do something for any recognition. Overall, once you have been here for a while,e you start getting along with everyone easily.

(4) School Location

Every student in elementary school stays on campus, while high school students get the chance to leave campus during lunch time with the expectation that they are back for class on time. There are field trips and other school trips where students are supervised by teachers and get to go off campus. However, during a regular school day, students stay on campus.

(4) Admissions

The admission process is pretty straight forward, I advice to read over all the requirements and expectations given by the school in the admission process. Also go over all of the expectations required from the students before they begin to attend the school like rules and the what’s required from them in a classroom.Visit the campus and check out the classrooms to make the right decision. My experience was simple and I did not find it stressful in any way.
