This 4-week immersive program allows campers to develop their leadership skills, form close connections with their peers, and work toward certifications in Standard First Aid, and Bronze Medallion or Bronze Cross.
During their month at camp, CSD campers will learn about effective leadership, develop their personal leadership strengths, and participate in initiatives, teambuilding activities, and adventure programming. The program has a focus on teamwork, communication, and collaboration, and campers are supported and guided through taking on new responsibilities and acting as role models within our camp community.
This program focuses on the development of "hard" skills, including swimming and lifesaving, first aid, and the foundations of canoe tripping. It includes a Bronze Medallion or Bronze Cross course, typically completed in the mornings over approximately two weeks of their time at camp, a Standard or Emergency First Aid Course, typically completed over two days with classroom and active practice components, and an introductory 4-night canoe trip.
Spending a whole month at camp also provides campers with tons of opportunity to try out various camp activities, ranging from sailing and rock climbing to wetland exploration and drama. CSD campers also get the chance to design and run a camp-wide program as a group, participate in lots of wacky games and theme days, and be part of a close-knit group of like-aged peers.
Though swimming is typically a significant component of this program, our CK team is dedicated to providing equal access to our Leadership programs and are happy to discuss how this program might work for your camper if swimming is not something they are comfortable with or able to do.
