Young People's Writing Room!

As an extracurricular-afterschool virtual program, Young People's Writing Room is specifically for high school youth interested to develop scripts for theatre and/or film. They will work and share ideas in a small group (7 max.), crafting a professional script. They will experience the detailed process of character and story development over the period of 8 weeks. In the end, they can use the learned tools to generate their own scripts in the future. Participants are not expected to do the day-to-day writing labor required to produce the scripts, which is the task of The Aakowa Parables Inc., but participants will rather generate the ideas and edit the story as it unfolds.

The process of creating a story is an exercise that allows us to analyze our own beliefs and thoughts through the characters and plots we create. With this program, participants are given the platform to express their own truths about the world in a healthy manner among their peers. As a group, they will attempt to create a theatrical or film masterpiece!

The finished script will potentially be produced by The Aakowa Parables Inc. and showcased in its online platform, live theatrical events and/or submitted to film festivals.

The program runs throughout the year. 

Important Notes:

• Pay in 4 installments of $75, with option to cancel after second installment.
• Writing Room sessions are conveniently online over the period of 8 weeks.
• Maximum of 7 participants per group, at least one day a week, ensuring all ideas are heard and proper attention is given to each participant.
• General coaching and advice in storytelling and story-development for duration of process.
• Select scripts will be produced by The Aakowa Parables Inc. for theatre or film and featured on the aakowa.com catalog of stories. Credits given for youth participants as writers.
• At the end of completed script, each participant is encouraged to share their thoughts about what their created story offers as thoughtful insight.
