"What sets Fieldstone apart is the way we blend academic excellence with personalized care. We are the first school in Canada to offer a fully integrated dual Cambridge-Ontario curriculum, giving students a globally recognized education rooted in strong academic foundations. Students not only master content but also develop critical thinking, writing, and analytical skills that prepare them for top universities worldwide.
Our classical enrichment is equally unique. All students from JK to 12 study and perform a Shakespeare play annually, fostering confidence, creativity, and communication. From Grade 1, students learn a string instrument, building discipline and appreciation for the arts.
We offer a close-knit, supportive community where every student is known and valued. Small classes, teacher-led tutorials, and one-on-one guidance ensure students receive the attention they need to grow academically, personally, and socially."

"At Fieldstone, we intentionally prioritise depth over breadth. By committing to a classical, academically rigorous education, we give less emphasis to trendy or rapidly shifting educational models. For example, while we value technology, we do not chase every new digital tool or platform; instead, we emphasise strong foundational skills—critical thinking, writing, speaking, and reasoning—that endure beyond the latest tech wave.
We also focus our resources on what most directly impacts student growth: excellent teaching, individual attention, and a thoughtfully structured learning environment. Rather than spreading ourselves thin across every possible offering, we concentrate on doing fewer things exceptionally well.
These tradeoffs reflect our belief that students thrive when they are known, challenged, and guided within a clear, values-driven framework—one that places long-term growth above short-term trends."
4. What key junctures in your school's history have most shaped its present?

"Fieldstone’s journey began in 1997 with a clear mission: to offer a values-based, academically rigorous education in a nurturing environment. A major turning point came with our adoption of the Cambridge curriculum, making us the first school in Canada to fully integrate both the Cambridge and Ontario programmes. This bold step reflected our commitment to global standards and long-term student success.
In 2024, Fieldstone was selected as a Cambridge Showcase School, a designation that recognised our excellence in delivering the Cambridge approach. This milestone affirmed our dedication to both academic depth and personal growth.
Throughout our history, we have continued to evolve while staying true to our core values. Every step—from programme refinement to enriched student experiences—has been driven by a clear purpose: to prepare students with the knowledge, character, and confidence to succeed in a rapidly changing world."
5. What type of student is a good fit for your school?

"Fieldstone is the right fit for students who are curious, motivated, and open to challenge—whether they arrive with bold ambition or quiet potential. Students who thrive here are eager to grow both academically and personally, and they value being part of a close-knit, respectful community.
Families who will get the most from Fieldstone share our belief in a well-rounded education that balances rigour with care. They appreciate the long-term value of strong writing, critical thinking, and classical foundations such as Shakespeare and music. They also understand the importance of individual attention, meaningful relationships with teachers, and a nurturing environment where students are known, guided, and expected to grow."
6. Under what conditions would you advise a family against choosing your school?

"Fieldstone may not be the right fit for families seeking a large, highly competitive school with a wide range of clubs, teams, and facilities. Our intentionally small size means we prioritise close relationships and personalised learning over breadth of offerings.
Families who expect a highly tech-driven or experimental approach to education may also find a mismatch. While we use technology thoughtfully, we emphasise classical foundations—literature, writing, music, and analytical thinking—over screen-based learning or constantly shifting trends.
We may not suit students who require a less structured environment. Our community is caring, but it also holds high academic and behavioural expectations. Families who value consistency, rigour, and depth over flash and flexibility will feel most at home here."
7. To your knowledge, why do families choose your school over others?

"Families often choose Fieldstone for its unique blend of academic rigour and personalised care. Many are drawn to our dual Cambridge-Ontario curriculum, which provides both global recognition and local relevance. They appreciate our focus on core skills—writing, public speaking, critical thinking—and the classical elements of our programme, such as Shakespeare and music.
Compared to larger schools, Fieldstone offers a warm, close-knit environment where students are truly known. Families value the individual attention, small classes, and direct support in university planning. We’re often chosen over schools with flashier facilities because of our strong teacher-student relationships, clear academic standards, and nurturing approach to student growth."

"Fieldstone is known as an academically rigorous school that believes deeply in each student’s potential. We empower students to take ownership of their learning and personal growth, preparing them not just for exams, but for life. Our motto captures this vision: “At Fieldstone, we see not the child we meet but rather who that child will become.”
This hopefulness and commitment to transformation set us apart. While we hold high standards and value achievement, we also foster a warm, supportive environment where success is shared. At Fieldstone, one person’s win is everyone’s win—and that sense of community, ambition, and belief in possibility defines who we are in the public eye."

"An often underappreciated aspect of Fieldstone is how deliberately we develop learner attributes, not just as ideals, but as daily practice. Confidence, responsibility, reflectiveness, innovation, and engagement aren’t abstract goals here—they shape how students approach challenges, collaborate, and grow.
Families may see our academic structure or curriculum at first glance, but what they often come to value most is how their child evolves: speaking with more confidence, thinking more critically, and caring more deeply about their learning. This transformation isn’t accidental—it’s the result of intentional teaching that treats personal growth as essential, not extra."

"What often surprises families is just how warm and personal the Fieldstone experience is. With our Cambridge curriculum and academic focus, some expect a rigid or overly formal environment. Instead, they find a school that pairs rigour with genuine care.
Students are greeted by name, closely supported by their teachers, and encouraged to take risks without fear of failure. The relationships here run deep—between staff and students, and among families—and this sense of connection often becomes one of the most valued aspects of school life.
Families also realise that, while we emphasise classical elements and high standards, our approach is dynamic and engaging. Students are curious, confident, and genuinely happy to learn because they feel seen, challenged, and supported every step of the way."
11. What improvements or changes has your school made recently?

"Recent changes at Fieldstone reflect our ongoing commitment to excellence and student growth. In 2024, we were selected as a Cambridge Showcase School, a recognition of our academic rigour and integrity. This has led to enhanced teacher training, refined curriculum delivery, and a stronger alignment with global best practices.
We’ve also become more active in the SSAF (Small Schools Athletic Federation), expanding opportunities for our students to participate in inter-school sports and competitions. This reflects our commitment to a well-rounded education that balances academics with physical development, teamwork, and school spirit.
These changes are not cosmetic—they are rooted in our belief that every student deserves a rigorous, inspiring, and well-supported education."

"Over the next five years, Fieldstone aims to deepen its commitment to academic excellence, global citizenship, and personalised learning. We plan to introduce new enrichment opportunities for advanced learners and continue refining our teaching practices to meet the evolving needs of our students.
We also intend to strengthen our arts and performance programmes, building on our Shakespeare and music traditions to include more interdisciplinary and student-led productions.
In athletics, we plan to further increase student participation in the SSAF, promoting health, teamwork, and school pride through broader sports offerings and more regular competition.
Our vision is to grow in depth, enhancing the quality, care, and lasting impact of the Fieldstone experience, and preparing students to thrive in school, university, and life beyond the classroom."
Gr. 6 (current),Gr. 4 (current) — We enrolled our two boys at Fieldstone in Grades 4 and 6 this past year, and overall, the experience has been very positive—so much so that we’ve decided to continue next year.
One of our biggest concerns going in was the small size of the school. With fewer than 10 students in most classes and a multi-grade structure, we worried it might be hard for our kids to make friends. To our surprise, they adapted quickly, building friendships across grades and with both boys and girls. That kind of inclusive social dynamic was very different from our previous public school, and it's been a big positive.
The school also builds excitement and community through Spirit Days, Pizza Days, and regular House Games. Fieldstone students are divided into four houses, encouraging a sense of belonging and friendly competition across grades. These special events help create a lively, team-oriented culture that students really enjoy.
They’ve genuinely enjoyed school life, participating in a wide variety of experiences—from a public speaking showcase and a science fair to spelling bees, school plays, concerts, and art showcases. The frequent monthly field trips (Ripley’s Aquarium, Legoland, a local farm, skiing, etc.) add excitement and real-world connection to their learning. Both children feel like they’re learning more, and in better ways, than before. Their only complaints? Recess is too short, and mornings start a bit too early. No surprise there!
Looking ahead, the school is planning to introduce two overnight field trips next year for students in Grades 7 and 8, which is something my child is already excited about. It’s another example of how Fieldstone continues to expand opportunities for students to grow socially and experientially outside the classroom.
Gr. 5 (current),Gr. 6 (current) — Our children like that they are more challenged than in the public school system. This is, of course, thanks to the curriculum made by the University of Cambridge (#3 university worldwide), but certainly also because of the teachers who are very warm and committed. My children love them. That there is also much attention to French, arts, sports, and music keeps them happy. Furthermore, they love competing in contests for public speaking, French, sports and music with students from other schools, which is encouraged by the school. Their outings (e.g., museum, farm, skiing day) are much appreciated. The many extracurricular activities, like the French night and coding classes, are also enjoyed. Last, but not least, they love the school's lunch program.
JK (current) — My child likes the curriculum from science to math to geography. He also enjoys the club activities, especially drama, coding and chess. He likes that he can play at recess with all grades up to grade 7 and how everyone is friendly and pleasant with him. He likes putting on his uniform everyday, especially his gym uniform and number one uniform with his blazer and tie. He loves his teacher, but also the teachers from his other classes, like French, music, gym or the teachers he just interacts with in the hallway. He also gets along well with the administration, from the principal right down to the accountant. He also enjoys the Junior playground, the flower garden in the front, and the rock structure seating area in the schoolyard.
I can't express with words my gratitude towards Fieldstone School. The staff is incredibly professional, and the character and leadership that Sofia developed at Fieldstone are not to be found elsewhere. I choose fieldstone at first because the Cambridge program called my attention, but they exceeded my expectations in all areas. The teachers are super committed to the students' growth, leadership is a must, and that is something very important in our society, and for the positive impact on the community. She is always applying her leadership principles and values to her daily routine. The commitment from teachers is priceless, I was impressed before, but now facing a pandemic they did an amazing job, keeping our kids interested in school, despite the "online" teaching. I highly recommend Fieldstone if you want your kid to develop a strong sense of leadership and a supportive community citizen.
My daughters are thriving at Fieldstone School. They have been students at the school for four years and have become strong young leaders. They love walking into school and hearing classical music as they are welcomed with warm smiles. They enjoy the playground and the different extracurricular activities offered such as team sports, chess club, public speaking club and so much more. Learning how to play the violin and taking part in the yearly Shakespeare Production has proven to be important moments in their student life. They are eager to go to school every day and look forward to connecting with the supportive teachers and administration. Fieldstone has been able to provide my daughters with a wonderful school experience combining a warm and caring environment on a beautiful campus.
My experience at Fieldstone King’s College School has been an enriching one that has pushed me to reach my potential through the extracurricular activities and through the challenging Cambridge curriculum. Through my years at Fieldstone, I was involved in the DECA club, the drama club, the knitting club, the dance club, choir and United Nations club. These extracurriculars taught me public speaking, rhetoric, leadership and empathy. I am grateful that Fieldstone gave me the opportunity to take the Cambridge English, French and Drama exams, which provided me with a more specialized education. The teachers are all caring and genuinely want to help the students. The smaller class sizes really help with creating a relationship with the teachers, which makes you more comfortable to approach them with questions or for feedback. I feel more confident in my success at the University of Toronto because of my Fieldstone education.
Fieldstone represented my first exposure to Canadian Society. It was during orientation that I got to experience part of the school life and got introduced to the beautiful city of Toronto. Fieldstone also introduced me to some great people I am still in contact with, and from the get-go, you could feel the positive atmosphere that the faculty want to foster. The teachers are extremely helpful and their desire to help you shows. You were made to feel welcome, and at home. The Duke of Edinburgh's Award program that the school runs is something that is intriguing and definitely worth exploring, as it can introduce you to new skills and get you to meet new people. The Cambridge program provided an extra degree of challenge that you wouldn't always get and is definitely something that can be beneficial to current and prospective students. Overall, while I only spent a year there, it was definitely a year that was crucial to shaping who I am as a human being.
My experience at Fieldstone has shaped who I am today! The kind staff and teachers at Fieldstone allowed me to reach my full potential as a student through their after-school tutorials and the Cambridge curriculum. I especially enjoyed the extracurricular clubs which allowed me to further my horizons in the community and create bonds with students who enjoy the same activities as me. Some of the clubs I joined through my years included: the drama club, model UN, choir, prefects, community outreach, and many more. The diverse groups of students allowed me to learn about other cultures and even languages. Throughout my time at Fieldstone I learned what it meant to create life long friendships and even the core learning habits I use today!
A lifelong learner herself, Wong most recently earned a master’s degree in education and says that learning should never stop—not for her or for her students or staff. She seeks to instill this love of learning in all students, to ensure that they are prepared for their future, whatever that may be.
