What Hudson College says about the application process
Application fee: $200

Registration fee: $4,000

Deposit: $3,000

Description:
1. Complete our inquiry form to receive application information, schedule a meeting with or admissions team, or register for an upcoming event.
2. Submit an application using our admission portal. We accept applications throughout the year, but recommend applying by the first deadline in November for the best chance of placement.
3. Upload all supporting documents (a copy of a birth certificate/passport, up-to-date immunization records, final report cards from the previous 2 years, additional grade-specific documentation) and request a teacher/principal recommendation by email using the admission portal.
4. Our team will contact then you to confirm whether we can proceed with an assessment (JK–Grade 9) and/or interview (Grade 10 and above). Applicants to JK–Grade 8 will also be invited for a visit day at Hudson. Please note that placement in each grade may be limited or for a waiting list, and that due to scheduling limitations, we may not be able to invite every qualified applicant to complete the next steps. An application fee is only due after confirmation of an interview/assessment.

The transition moving from my previous school to Hudson College was an extremely easy and stress-free process. I had come for a tour to see what Hudson had to offer and within seconds of entering I was greeted by a staff member who began the tour and admission process. Like most people tend to be, I was extremely stressed to get accepted into Hudson College. However everyone that I had talked to was friendly, knowledgeable, and reassuring. The process was simple and quick. I came in for an interview with the upper school's principle, Jack Bavington, and after the interview was accepted into the school.

I remember going to an open house at Hudson and being really impressed by the Grade 8 student who took us around. She was very friendly and open, and we asked her all sorts of questions about life at Hudson. That's really worth doing. It's one thing reading about a school, but having a chat with someone who's actually experienced it is invaluable. When our daughter had a try-out day at Hudson, she didn't want to leave. We carried her out sideways. This was a big change from our other school viewings! We knew then that we'd found a winning combination.

I had an ideal admissions process. During the open house, I felt immediately welcomed by the school ambassadors (I didn’t know that at the same time next year, I would be an ambassador as well!), and our tour guide was really nice and answered all our questions. Right away, the school reminded me of my middle school and I felt very at home. I talked with a couple staff that day, as well as the upper school principal. The application process was not that hard; I was asked for letters of recommendation, wrote about myself in short essays, as well as spending an optional afternoon in the school with my future classmates. There was supposed to be an interview component, but I talked with the principal so much at the open house I didn’t even need one. Rather than stressful, it was an exciting process leading me to life at a new school.

I found the admission process to be very straightforward and overall an easy and well thought out process. The information that you have to fill out is organized into different sections with thorough instructions on what you have to do. You can also register for a tour of the school that is done through students that are part of Hudson Ambassadors, or a teacher. During this tour, you get to see the entire school and what it has to offer, as well as talking to different teachers and students to get a feeling of what they think of the school. Which I found to be really helpful because it's great to get information from the source and it really helps people who are on the edge and aren't entirely sure they want to go here.

Our admissions process was seamless. We began hearing about Hudson College in our community when our daughter was in Grade 7 and were intrigued. We decided to attend a Saturday Open House at the school, thinking we might want to apply for Grade 9. After touring the school with a student ambassador and meeting many of the staff including the principal, we were even more encouraged. We decided we wanted our daughter to start Hudson in Grade 8 instead of Grade 9. As a next step, she was invited to spend a day in class to get a sense of the school experience. The teachers gave her some skill tests. She had a great day and the kids were rally friendly. Also that day I met with more of the staff. We were convinced. We completed the application materials and the rest is history. We have never looked back.
