Qualitative insights

These insights are based on conversations with parents, alumni, and school leadership. Handpicked and curated by our editor, they offer a close look at how the school is experienced and perceived by those who know it best.

Students benefit from the commitment to academic excellence.

Observations from students and alumni emphasize that the academic rigor and quality of education at St. George's School, coupled with strategic emphasis on critical thinking and practical skills, effectively prepares students for higher education and beyond.

The academic excellence of St. George's School stands out. The level of academics was top-notch, and it prepared me well for college studies. I particularly appreciated the Social Studies Department, which gave me critical thinking and analytical skills, rather than mere memorization.
The first reason to choose St. George’s would be that the academic excellence is unparalleled and provides strong preparation for higher education. Second, it’s the sense of community that extends across students, faculty, administrators, and alumni, offering valuable networking and mentorship opportunities. Third, the school emphasizes mission-driven education, ensuring that students not only develop strong technical skills but also cultivate a sense of responsibility and ethical awareness.
I find the academic workload at St. George's to be challenging and overwhelming at times. However, it all comes down to our personal growth in finding ways we learn and study best, efficiently managing our time and understanding ways we best focus. It's a level that pushes me to work hard and manage my time well, which I think is perfect for preparing us for future studies. The teachers make sure that the material is both challenging and achievable, and they provide support when we need it so we don’t feel lost. Much of what we’re learning feels practical and relevant to real life. Beyond facts and formulas, the school focuses on developing skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication, which I know will be valuable later on. This kind of learning feels purposeful and is one of the reasons I think St. George's prepares us well, as we know our learning and growth may lead us to future success as long as we stay consistent and determined.

There's a supportive community that emphasizes personal growth.

Insights from current students and parents highlight that St. George’s School offers a nurturing environment where students are inspired and aided by dedicated faculty and staff, fostering personal and academic development through accessible resources and mentorship opportunities.

Our task is to create an environment where we encourage them to take those risks knowing it's going to all be okay. And so it is quite inspiring to us to see how many boys, by the time of graduation, have found something that they love. It's far more fulfilling for us to send them off to their next adventure knowing they're going somewhere they want to go. They're just a really lovely aspect of what we do. We really work hard to find places where a boy feels his learning resonates with him.
The personal and university counsellors are also fantastic; they make themselves available for personal or academic advice, helping us navigate both school and life challenges. All in all, the resources dedicated to us students are all we could ask for, they aim to help us succeed and gain valuable knowledge to take with us into life after St. George's. ... I have a lot of respect for the leadership at St. George's School, with many resources to reach out to, from your teachers, advisors, counsellors, and head of grades to our principals and headmaster. They truly create an environment where students feel supported academically, socially, and personally, making it a place where we can truly thrive. One thing I appreciate is the teachers’ dedication—they go above and beyond to ensure we understand our material and succeed, providing extra help when we need it and challenging us to reach our full potential.
