This camp is designed to build the following character traits:

  • Resilience: Camp Waabanaki builds resilience through Canoe Out Trips and outdoor living. Campers face challenges like navigating routes, setting up tents, and adapting to new environments.   • Responsibility: Teamwork thrives at Camp Waabanaki through shared experiences like cabin activities and Canoe Out Trips. Our small group sizes ensure personalized attention, and our stunning natural setting offers a truly unique and inspiring environment.

What truly sets us apart is our Canoe Out Trips, a hallmark of Camp Waabanaki. These trips, lasting one to three nights, are designed to match the age and skill level of participants. Campers paddle from campsite to campsite daily, camp in tents, and learn outdoor skills like navigation, water safety, and ‘Leave No Trace’ principles—all while enjoying the breathtaking beauty of Muskoka.

What Will Children Do and Experience?

At Camp Waabanaki, campers will:

  • Take part in one-week or two-week overnight programs, exploring one of Ontario's most beautiful areas.
  • Learn essential skills such as water safety, nature and weather awareness, outdoor living, and navigation.
  • Participate in activities like canoeing, rock climbing, swimming, and hiking.
  • Build confidence and teamwork through skill-building sessions and group challenges.
  • Experience unplugged living surrounded by mature forests, granite cliffs, and the clear waters of Lake Vernon.
  • Create lasting memories and friendships through shared cabin life and camp adventures.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like?

Here’s a glimpse into a day at Camp Waabanaki:

  • 7:45 a.m.: Morning Dip – Start the day with a refreshing swim.
  • 8:30 a.m.: Breakfast – Fuel up with a hearty meal.
  • 9:15 a.m.: Cabin Clean-Up – Practice teamwork and responsibility.
  • 10:00-11:00 a.m.: Skill Choice or Cabin Skill – Learn or enhance skills like archery, kayaking, or crafts.
  • 12:30 p.m.: Lunch – Enjoy a nutritious meal with the camp community.
  • 1:15 p.m.: Rest Hour – Recharge with quiet time.
  • 2:00-4:30 p.m.: Skill Choice or Cabin Skill – Continue skill-building or enjoy structured activities.
  • 4:30 p.m.: General Swim – Relax and play in the lake.
  • 5:30 p.m.: Dinner – A delicious evening meal with friends.
  • 6:30 p.m.: Activity Selections – Choose evening activities such as nature hikes or sports.
  • 7:45 p.m.: Evening Program – Gather for camp-wide fun, from campfires to games.
  • 9:00 p.m.: Snack – A light treat to end the day.
  • 9:15 p.m.: Days End – Reflect on the day’s adventures.
  • 9:30 p.m.: Bedtime – Rest and prepare for another exciting day.
