Qualitative insights

Academic programming is rigorous and effective.

Observations from students, alumni, and parents indicate that the rigorous academic programs and dedicated staff at Metropolitan Preparatory Academy thoroughly prepare students for the challenges of higher education.

One thing that I've appreciated is how hard the classes were at Metropolitan Preparatory Academy, especially chemistry. When I got to university chemistry, a lot of it was review because the chemistry teacher at Metropolitan Preparatory Academy worked so hard to have us prepared for university-level chemistry. I think because of her, I did so well in university chemistry. If something was hard in high school chemistry for me, let's say I got like a 75%, when I did it again in university, I would end up with a 90%. Now that I'm looking back on it, yes, it was hard in high school, but it made my life so much easier in university.
A common trait among all my friends from Metropolitan Preparatory Academy is that they can excel in their environment at university and college.
The three big reasons someone should choose Metropolitan Preparatory Academy are the school’s focus on academics and extracurriculars, and the staff there. The teachers are so unique, you will not find a better set of staff and educators. I felt prepared for university, which I think is a lot of people's main goal when they're in high school. Metro Prep did such a good job of preparing students. We actually used one of the university prep books in our calculus class.

Students benefit from the supportive and inspiring teachers.

Accounts from students and alumni reveal how the unique, supportive, and inspiring teachers at Metropolitan Preparatory Academy significantly impact students' career paths and academic interests.

Metro Prep influenced a lot of what I intend to study, different passions of mine, and definitely the university I chose. Metro Prep helped me realize what I value the most and what areas of studies I enjoy the most. The teachers there really shaped my areas of interest. I became interested in social sciences, such as political science, law, economics, etc. I also know quite a few people who became very interested and passionate about STEM fields, and then they're pursuing that as well in university.
It was actually a Metro Prep teacher who inspired me to pursue a career in computer science. And now I'm a computer science major. He was always available to answer my questions and help me with code and I stuck to it. And recently I was offered an internship as a software engineer at a major bank and it made me so grateful to have this teacher in my corner, always encouraging me, always uplifting me, and I'm so grateful to Metro Prep for having provided me with something like that. Metro Prep's values are to inspire and foster potential within each student.
What I know, for sure, is that Metro Prep fosters the intellectual potential of university-oriented students, and I can confirm that that is in fact the case. My daughter aspired to be on the honor roll every semester, and she achieved that. And the teachers have been very supportive and encouraging of her academic performance. She was also able to get into her first choice of university, and that was quite an amazing accomplishment for her. So I think that Metro Prep stays true to its promise and its philosophy.

They benefit from personalized guidance for success.

Feedback from students and parents indicates that the school’s approach of individual attention and personalized guidance significantly supports students throughout their journey to university, fostering their overall development and decision-making.

My son got accepted to his dream university program, thanks to his teachers' hard work and the school's focus on academic excellence and the school's guidance counselor,  who really helped my son prepare his application.
I wouldn't say the school is solely focused on academics and facilitating students' entry into university. This happens naturally because of our focus on individual students. By truly understanding and listening to the students, we motivate them to work harder and achieve their goals. We assist them with the application process for universities, preparing them well for the comprehensive procedures involved in university admissions. Due to our smaller size, we can offer a lot of interpersonal connections and attention to the students, helping them navigate changes and make informed decisions.
I felt incredibly supported throughout the university application process. The faculty takes steps into making sure you are well prepared for your life outside of Metro and your post-secondary program. The guidance council takes the time to meet with every single graduating student, sitting down with them to look into different schools. The guidance counselor gets to know the students on a personal level which became extremely helpful during your university application process. She not only looks at the students grades but looks at their personalities to figure out where students will be happy and excel in their program. I was definitely given guidance early enough on, and I felt extremely well prepared for when the time actually came for me to apply. Although I miss Metro, I’m grateful for everything they did to help me prepare for my life beyond secondary school.
