Listed on this page are private schools with a sports-intensive focus, while further below that you will find a list of schools ranked for sports activity. There are a number of ways that you can rank or rate the best high schools for sports. All of those methods would be arbitrary and biased. Review these lists—and all school rankings—with caution.

Private schools with the highest number of competitive sports

Below, we rank private high schools solely on the number of competitive sports teams and clubs they offer. This is an objective metric that tells you how athletics-oriented the school is, and may, in turn, indicate how competitive the school is in varsity athletics. For avid young athletes, a school with a greater variety of sports will most likely have the activities they want, or the breadth of activities they wish to take part in.

Ranking schools on any criteria is a limited exercise, and we always caution against consulting school ratings. The list below may be helpful but it’s just one of many tools on our site that help you find a fit that’s right for you.
