Montreal private school rankings

Find the best Montreal school for your family with OUR KIDS rankings

Below are OUR KIDS' private school rankings in Montreal. We present this data tentatively, as a nominally helpful resource for parents. No ranking list can tell all Montreal parents what the "best school" is for their child or family.

We have much more information on making the right school choice in our advice guide. Parents should choose the best school for their children based on many factors that go deep beneath superficial considerations like school rankings. Ranking lists should be a very minor part (if any) of your family's school decision process. Read our fuller look at the proper skepticism parents should have for school rankings or download our e-book on how to find the best school.

Learn more at the Montreal Private School Expo
At the Montreal Private School Expo and in other work with parents, we often get asked for rankings, and we recognize that these lists can be discreetly helpful. The expo, though, allows parents and kids to meet top schools face-to-face. It’s the kind of research tool you need to use. You can also sit in on informative Q&A seminars led by education experts who’ll shed light on vital topics when it comes to making the right school choice. Meet with admissions teams from each school and gain valuable insights from current parents who have experienced the journey firsthand. All in one afternoon.  Click here for details and to RSVP.

Best university placement

Many parents consider university placement a top factor in determining the quality of a school. With that in mind, this list ranks Montreal private schools based on graduates' placement in 12 of the world's top universities (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, University of Pennsylvania, Dartmouth, Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Stanford, University of Chicago, Oxford, and Cambridge) in the last five years. While university placement is important to many parents paying for private school, it should not trump other considerations. As noted above, we offer a wealth of advice and resources to help families fully consider all aspects of the school choice.

Lowest admission rate

Low admission rates would seem to indicate that the Montreal private school you're considering is difficult to get into. In turn, this would suggest that the school has a strong reputation and must be in high demand from parents. That said, this is a very simplified measure. Some schools have better marketing or limited facilities; various factors can affect a school's ability to accept applicants. A school's low admission rate does not indicate that it will best fit your child(ren). Many excellent private schools throughout Montreal have high acceptance rates.

School Location Grades Acceptance

2 Miss Edgar's & Miss Cramp's School Westmount, QC K to 11 60%

6 Kells Academy Montreal, QC K to 12 95%

Smallest class sizes

Schools with small class sizes enable students to get the individual attention necessary to help them thrive. In many cases, private schools in Montreal offer lower average class sizes, a big reason parents seek private education in the first place. Among these schools, the teacher-student ratio can range from one to the next. If this is a critical factor in your decision making, see the schools below that offer the best ratio.

School Location Grades Avg. class size
1 Kuper Academy Kirkland, QC PS to 12 9 to 22
